There was a time in the not too distant past, that I didn’t care for asparagus. I would pass by it at the Farmers’ Market without so much as a glance. If you had asked me then, I would have told you it was because asparagus had the texture of a twig… and the same flavor, thereabouts. I honestly can’t explain why my mind, or more aptly put, my taste buds, have changed to such a degree… but since it is such a welcome change, I will not complain.
The obsession first began with the consumption of the asparagus… grilled, the majority of the time – simply, with a drizzle of Spanish Olive oil and a sprinkle of Dirty Salt. Yum. Then, after a while… I became consumed with the idea of drawing, painting, sketching and chalking asparagus. It is like the asparagus is trying to stay alive through my art and that makes me happy.
