Moving Forward

Life moves… and when you slow down, it doesn’t stop to wait for you to catch up.

It’s been nine months since I moved from New York to California.  It was one of those spur of the moment,  nothing left to lose situations.  We packed what we wanted to keep and sold everything else.  We sold the car to buy a van, rented a trailer, packed them full and with no particular destination in mind… made the trek out west.

The ride out was a journey in itself.  Being a passenger to the ever changing landscape of this beautiful country was nothing short of a gift.  Being an avid traveler, I remember thinking to myself, “If California doesn’t work out… at least I’ll always have this road trip!”

New York had gotten stale somehow, professionally.  I knew there wasn’t any room for me to grow.  I wasn’t even sure what exactly I wanted to grow into.  I needed to evaluate my life, my situation, and my goals.   As it turns out, California was a great place to do that.

Since I’ve been here I’ve met some quality people,  and have gotten to experience some amazing opportunities.   It is through those people and opportunities that I became inspired to build on my education.   For the last decade my primary focus has been buying and selling domain names.  Moving forward I would like to focus more on the development aspect of those domain names, and to do that I need to fill my brain with knowledge.

I chose the University of Phoenix, and enrolled in their BSIT w/ a concentration in Web Development program.  Today is my first day of class  GEN200 – Foundations for General Education and Professional Success.  I’m really looking forward to gaining some knowledge and  putting my new skills to work for me.

Through this blog, I will walk through the next phase of my life.   This phase is where my work, my life, and my education collide.  This is where it all begins… right here… now.   Welcome to my life as I move forward.
