Obsessed with Asparagus

There was a time in the not too distant past, that I didn’t care for asparagus.  I would pass by it at the Farmers’ Market without so much as a glance.  If you had asked me then, I would have told you it was because asparagus had the texture of a twig… and the same flavor, thereabouts.  I honestly can’t explain why my mind, or more aptly put, my taste buds, have changed to such a degree… but since it is such a welcome change, I will not complain.

The obsession first began with the consumption of the asparagus… grilled, the majority of the time – simply, with a drizzle of Spanish Olive oil and a sprinkle of Dirty Salt.  Yum.  Then, after a while… I became consumed with the idea of drawing, painting, sketching and chalking asparagus.  It is like the asparagus is trying to stay alive through my art and that makes me happy.  Enjoy the first two of my asparagus series.
