A big welcome to Spring & Getting paid for your creative writing!

Today is cold and rainy! I can’t think of a better first day of spring 🙂 The sunny warm weather will come, don’t worry! I would rather it rain forever than to start hearing people complain about the drought again. Seriously. I used to feel like a criminal for giving the plants a drink… but you don’t want to hear about that either… so let me shout out to the writers….

Did you guys know that The Sun publishes nonfiction, fiction, and poetry? The Sun is an indie, ad-free magazine that uses words and photography to make a profound impact on readers.

Their submission page says that they favor personal writing, but they also look for provocative pieces on politics and cultural issues. I honestly think this is one of the best times to write. Creative writing is important because it tends to round out truths we generally can’t swallow whole.

Even better than that… they pay! Nonfiction and Fiction can earn from $300 to $2,000, and poetry $100 to $250. They also accept interview pitches and will pay $1000 to $2000 for interviews. They offer writing samples for each category so that you familiarize yourself with the kind of writing they are looking for. They purchase one-time rights with other rights reverting to the author upon publication.
