say no to racism

say no to racismPart of what I am doing as a white individual is educating myself. There are some great websites that offer information and guidance. I will post them here at my blog to share with others that realize not being racist is not enough.

I think the most important thing right now is communication. I think a lot of white people are afraid, or have been afraid to bring up racism or to ask any of the uncomfortable questions that need to be talked about before anti racism can be realized.

Seriously, if you are still sitting there going, “whatever, I never did anything to anyone, it is not my responsibility!” – I am sorry, but you are part of the problem.  You have no human connection. You have never imagined going through the life you have now with brown or darker skin. I mean REALLY ponder the scenario. Every single thing that you do and take for granted… a black person must carefully consider and take steps to counter things they are afraid might happen because of the color of their skin. One of those things is walking past a white person on the street.

I am done with it – let’s banish that shit and unite! All is fair in love and war. Let go of the ignorance and the hate. There is only one race – the HUMAN RACE!
